I am not a fan of Sundays.
They were always the day that my mom made me wash my hair, cut my nails, and scrub my feet in anticipation of the new week.
Even now, it’s just the last day of fun and relaxation before another week of work and responsibilities rolls around.
The only thing that can possibly salvage those anxious feelings is an outing to one of the best spots in the Franschhoek Winelands.
Emphasis on the wine part.
We can easily beat the blues with a spot at one of the three upcoming Cape of Good Hope Sunday Lunches at the Anthonij Rupert Wine Estate.
This Sunday, March 13, marks the first date of this spectacular event. The day begins in the Anthonij Rupert Tasting Room. From there, you’ll be whisked away to a private location on the farm for a unique introduction to their heritage vines and wines:
You’ll also get to enjoy the stunning vineyards for a while:
Then, back at the Tasting Room, you’ll delve into a private three-course lunch featuring traditional South African cuisine paired with the delicious Cape of Good Hope wines:
Let’s have a look at the Cape of Good Hope Sunday Lunch:
To begin: Snacks on the cellar rooftop paired with a wine tasting.
Main Course:
Dessert: Sticky toffee pudding, Amarula ice cream.
How’s that for a Sunday done right?
This unforgettable experience is available at R750 per guest, which is inclusive of all transport on the estate, an Old Vine wine tasting and talk, plus the three-course lunch paired with wines.
The event is only held on select dates throughout the year, with the first one happening this Sunday, March 13.
The next events are scheduled for Sunday, April 3, and Sunday, October 23.
This Sunday’s lunch is almost fully booked, so if you can’t make it this time around, go ahead and book ahead for the next one.
It would also be the perfect time to grab a couple of bottles of the newly released maiden vintage L’Ormarins Private Cuvée Cap Classique:
Unless you just want to go ahead and do that ahead of time, which can be done via the online shop.
Nice to know that Sundays can also be rosy.
