There are two types of people in the world: those with a dark sense of humour and those who consider working in a funeral home terribly serious business.
Okay, there are more kinds of people in the world, but for the sake of this story, we are talking about those two.
A couple of undertakers from a funeral home in London have pretty much been cancelled after playing a prank on their colleagues.
Video of the joke went viral over the weekend, showing staff from T Cribb & Sons Funeral Directors about to work on a body bag when the body inside jumps to attention, scaring the unassuming colleagues.
A camera behind a couple of mugs captures the moment one unsuspecting colleague screamed “you silly c***!”, kicking out at the table, as the body in the bag appears to come alive:

The video has sparked a debate about whether it is funny or a disgrace.
The Mirror has more:
…One said: “This is disgraceful, not even funny. I don’t blame him for kicking towards him.”
Another one agreed and added: “Absolutely disgusting behaviour.”
Another chimed in: “That’s just pure disrespectful to be honest if there are other bodies there. Funny as f**k prank tho.”
On the other hand, people are seeing the funny side:
One said: “I actually know someone who that happened too. You can call it bad taste but you’ve got to have a sense of humour. Well, I have to keep going at times!”
Another person, who said they are an undertaker, said: “People in our line of work need to unwind and relax. Pranks like this keep our spirits up.”
John Harris, a senior partner at T Cribbs and Sons, felt the need to suspend the staff involved in the unfortunate joke:
John said: “It’s a joke which should never have happened or been shared.
“I’m lost for words. It’s a family business and I’ve been in it for 50 years. All the good work I’ve done in that time, you can see it destroyed by some foolishness. I’m at a loss really.
“I get why people think it’s disrespectful. At the end of the day, some thought they’d play a prank on somebody. I can’t stand here and condone it. Where’s the common sense?
He went on to offer an “unreserved apology if the video offended anybody,” saying that professionals can’t act like that these days and lamenting how he now has to lose experienced staff, one of whom has been with the business for 25 years.
They are dealing with death every day. How are they not allowed to have moments of laughter when dealing with the most difficult aspect of life. They should never have been suspended. If that is what helps them cope in their job then I don’t see an issue.
