The younger daughter of former Formula 1 Group CEO Bernie Ecclestone is selling yet another sumptuous mansion, this time in London.
In 2019, Petra Eccleston received a hefty sum of $120 million (around R1,68 billion) for the sale of the titanic estate known as Spelling Manor in Los Angeles.
Now the Formula 1 heiress is putting her redone 18th-century London mansion, Sloane House, up for sale.
She purchased the gorgeous Georgian property in 2010 and is willing to part with it if the right buyer comes along, putting it at the off-market price of $230 million (R3,5 billion).
Located on Old Church Street in London’s Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Sloane House’s amenities are unmatched, and apparently, totally worth that maddening price, according to Robb Report.
What also needs to be considered about this Grade II-listed residence, besides its historical significance, is the five years of work that went into perfecting it:
“It’s such an exceptional home that took many years for Petra to build,” says Palmer, a real estate agent with Partridge Estates Group of Hilton & Hyland and Ecclestone’s fiancé.
“It can’t be done again in London. The amenities in this house also rival any of the best hotels in the world. The home was quite ahead of its time in London when it was first built. We’re seeing these types of amenities more now, but these were not the typical amenities when Petra first built it.”
We’re looking at eight bedrooms and 15 bathrooms split over 2 322 square metres and five-and-a-half levels:
But most impressive and unique are the two subterranean levels. Due to today’s current permit restrictions, building this deep underground is no longer allowed in London.
On these two subterranean levels, you’ll be pampered with “hotel-like perks” including an indoor swimming pool, a spa, a massage room, and one of the best hammams out there:
Plus – yes, there is always a plus with a price like that – there’s a squash court, a kid’s playroom, a movie theatre, and even Europe’s second-largest residential aquarium:
During the extensive renovations, the historic exterior, facade, and structure of the home were retained, while Ecclestone poured her energy into the interior:
“Petra’s got quite masculine taste,” her fiancé [Sam Palmer] says. “She worked mostly with Candy & Candy and the bedroom was done by Gavin Brodin, who also worked with her on the Manor.
It was really down to her style and taste, but the home does a great job of bringing the new world into the old world. There’s a very good merger of styles there. She had such a vision for the home.”
Then, just past the private, gated entry is a parking space for up to 17 cars:
If that isn’t enough space to make this central London property sing, one can even have a full house of staff living on the property to attend to every whim.
There is a large staffing quarter that extends through the entire middle of the house, accessible from every staircase.
Ecclestone sure does like living in style.
