If somebody in Ukraine says please send money because my enemies are after me, they’re less ‘Tinder Swindler’ and more just trying to stay alive in the midst of a Russian invasion.
A poorly chosen Tinder picture counts against you, but surely being an active part of the troops invading any would-be match’s country is a dealbreaker?
Women in Kharkiv, which has been under siege over the past four days, say they have seen many Russian soldiers pop up on the dating app.
This via Newstalk from Ukrainian Dasha Synelnikova, who went seeking the soldiers out:
“I actually live in Kyiv but changed my location settings to Kharkiv after a friend told me there were Russian troops all over Tinder,” Ms Synelnikova said.
“And I couldn’t believe my eyes when they popped up trying to look tough and cool. One muscular guy posed up trying to look sexy in bed posing with his pistol.
“Another was in full Russian combat gear and others just showed off in tight stripy vests. It was funny but scary at the same time, knowing that they were so close.”
One soldier went with the obligatory kitten-cuddling photo, although he lost points when the next photo was a selfie of him holding a pistol.
Perhaps they have an excuse for choosing rather lame images.
Vladimir Putin loves to pose like a tough guy – he’s shirtless on a horse, he’s hiking, and his calendars are truly a marvel.
Dasha said she matched with one man who posed with a Kalashnikov rifle in full combat gear and helmet.
When she asked if he was a Russian soldier, he replied with a Jim Carrey GIF. Cool.
This is just stupid. We have bigger things to worry about in the world.
As you were.
