Netflix must be loving the fact that Simon Leviev (real name Shimon Hayut) is desperate to hit back.
By now, you’ve surely seen The Tinder Swindler and kept up with the twists and turns of where Leviev is and what he’s up to.
Instagram accounts keep popping up claiming to be his, and his actual account has been disabled after briefly returning to the social media platform last week.
Leviev has issued various statements about telling his side of the story, but we had yet to hear anything concrete.
Until his interview with Inside Edition, that is. He strongly denied that he has swindled women via the dating app, saying he “was just a single guy that wanted to meet some girls on Tinder”.
More from People:
In another clip… he says, “They present it as a documentary but in truth, it’s like a complete made-up movie.”
Leviev, who’s joined by his girlfriend in the interview, also says, “I’m the biggest gentleman in the world.”
It’s his first interview since the doccie aired on Netflix, with Inside Edition saying it will air in two parts.
The first aired last night and the second will air today.
Here’s the preview from last week:
The full interview is not yet uploaded, but you can see Leviev addressing questions from the 1:30 mark:
Kate Konlin has been a vocal defender of Leviev for a while.
I like how the above segment ends by once again pointing out the fact that Leviev was convicted of fraud, theft, and forgery in December 2019.
He served just five of 15 months before being released.
Next in the firing line is Hollywood. Leviev has signed with a talent manager, Gina Rodriguez, and it’s reported that he wants to write a book, star on a dating show, and host a dating podcast.
One idea for a potential show would see women competing for his love, as well as another where he shares dating dos and don’ts.
I’d say he’s a great illustration of multiple don’ts rolled into one.
A few more denials for the road.
