The planes coming in to land at Heathrow Airport have faced extreme winds lately, with various attempted landings going haywire.
There was that British Airways jet that almost toppled sideways when strong winds from Storm Corrie affected the landing.
Now Storm Eunice has been causing havoc on the landing strips, forcing a Qatar Airways jet to attempt what might just be the slowest landing ever recorded.
The image above is a still frame of the A380 airbus trying to safely land on Friday, but the stillness of the plane remains true.
The plane was seen hovering unmoved for some time as the pilots struggled with 65 metres per hour crosswinds from the raging storm:

Who knew the A380 had been upgraded with SVTOL capability? Wild. This was recorded at Heathrow under exceptionally high winds on approach

The moment of suspension was captured by Speedbird TV, with the producer exclaiming, “never have I seen that, and I have been live-streaming aviation for 10 years!”:
The pilot had to make a few rounds until finally, the A380 landed on the third attempt, reported Stuff:
”You can safely say they earned their money today,” wrote one.
”Wow that’s the slowest attempted landing I’ve ever seen,” added another.
A large portion of the UK experienced the awful weather from Storm Eunice, which is the second major storm to hit the region in three days.
The UK’s Met Office weather service issued two rare “red” weather warnings for Wales and parts of southern England, including London:
British officials urged millions to “stay at home” as winds reached 196kmh.
Eunice landed in the southwest of Ireland in the predawn hours, leaving tens of thousands without power, before barrelling across to Britain.
Tragically, the severe storm killed nine people as a result of falling trees or debris.
This storm was also the first time that the “red” weather warning has gone off since the system was introduced in 2011.
