The legal hodgepodge between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has yet another lawsuit added to the pile.
While the tug-of-war still seems to be going on about who gets custody of their six kids, Brad suing his ex this time has to do with something else entirely.
At first, Brad filed a lawsuit in September last year, accusing Angelina and her business partners of trying to cut him out of the potentially lucrative sale of their once-shared French vineyard estate, Château Miraval (below).
Besides being the venue where the couple had their secret wedding ceremony, it is also the property that Brad allegedly poured his heart and money into, creating a multimillion-dollar business and one of the world’s top producers of rosé wine.
But Brad has just lost all of that after Angelina ‘went behind his back’ and sold her shares to Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary owned by Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler.
It was a part of their divorce agreement that they would ask each other for permission if they ever wanted to sell their shares, which Angelina is accused of outright ignoring.
Here’s Page Six with information from the recent court documents:
“Jolie consummated the purported sale without Pitt’s knowledge, denying Pitt the consent right she owed him and the right of first refusal her business entity owed his.
“She sold her interest with the knowledge and intention that Shefler and his affiliates would seek to control the business to which Pitt had devoted himself and to undermine Pitt’s investment in Miraval.”
The court papers go on to state that, by 2013, “Jolie stopped contributing altogether” for the renovations, while Pitt “continued to invest” roughly 70% of the couple’s investment in Miraval:
“Jolie seeks to recover unearned windfall profits for herself while inflicting gratuitous harm on Pitt. Jolie long ago stopped contributing to Miraval — while Pitt poured money and sweat equity into the wine business. Jolie seeks to seize profits she has not earned and returns on an investment she did not make.”
A source familiar with the situation mentioned that this is another example of the same person (Angelina) “disregarding her legal and ethical obligations” and seeking to cash out without ever having lifted a finger to help grow the business.
What a mess.
