The word ‘nerd’ has been reclaimed.
Plus, have a look at how well your high school classmates who were labelled nerds are doing these days.
Oh, how the tables have turned.
It seems like everyone is enjoying a spot of Wordle (I mean, it has helped save lives), even if the fairytale story behind its existence has been somewhat sullied by its sale to The New York Times.
The guy who made it cashed in on his creation. Let him be.
Wordle has inspired countless word-related spin-offs but now there’s one for map buffs, too.
Forbes calls Worldle “the Name-That-Country Wordle Spin-off For Geography Nerds”. CNET goes with something similar, “the Country-Guessing Wordle Spin-off”:
…players are shown a shaded outline of a country and have six tries to correctly guess what the locale is.
…Worldle flashes green, gray and yellow squares. The difference is, here the more green squares you see the closer you are geographically to the right country.
Worldle shows the distance in kilometers your guess is to the actual location.
If you really want to challenge yourself you can even hide the country image.
Give it a bash here.
The game’s creator is blown away by the popularity, which surged last week:
You crazy people! It was supposed to be just a small side project! We are now half a million who played #Worldle today! Wtf?! 🤯🤩 Thanks to all of you! ❤️ pic.twitter.com/3IqZ3JzYLn

Antoine Teuf, a 31-year-old Web and video game developer who lives in Montpellier, France, spoke to The Washington Post:
Teuf…said he doesn’t want Worldle to be seen as “a copy of the original Wordle game,” but rather a tribute to it…
Teuf said he and his girlfriend discovered Wordle about a month ago and discussed building a spin off. She plays geography quizzes, Teuf says, and one of his best friends is a fan of the video game “GeoGuessr,” so developing a geography-based game made sense.
And yet Teuf willingly admits he “sucks at geography” and would often lose at his own game when he first released it.
There’s hope for us all.
He wants to keep the game free, although there is the option to give him a bit of cash on his site if you so desire.
