Elymus repens, commonly known as couch grass, is a very common perennial species of grass popular for lawns across Australia.

“Couch” is typically pronounced the same way you would when referring to a lounge seat, as in “kowch”.

But Today Show host Ally Langdon had a little slip of the tongue, sending co-host Karl Stefanovic, and then the whole internet, into absolute hysterics.

The pair were discussing the species of grass while interviewing two gardening experts about proper lawn care in a segment that aired last week, reported NewsAU.

Langdon asked the experts what she can do for her “cooch” because it was “dying”. Understandably, her awkward pronunciation of the word sent the whole conversation down a totally different path.

Karl was really struggling to keep it together after Langdon admitted to having problems with her cooch, and the gardening experts replying with witty remarks kept the flow going quite nicely.

It’s the lawn expert’s “cooch has got really good wear and tear tolerance, so it can recover quickly” that stands out.

While Langdon was none the wiser about her sexually explicit gaffe, people all over picked up the clip to poke fun at it, including James Corden:

“An Australian TV host had an accidental slip-up while discussing lawn maintenance live on the air,” Corden told viewers before playing the clip.

“Everyone needs to grow up, OK? She’s just talking about trimming her grass down under,” he quipped.

That’s good, I’ll give it to him.
