Prince Harry has left behind royal life in the United Kingdom and seems to be enjoying himself in the US.
Princess Eugenie – well, her dad is Prince Andrew so can you blame her for putting some distance between herself and that creep?
The royal duo was spotted attending Sunday’s Super Bowl (above) at the SoFi Stadium, which is about a 20-minute drive from Los Angeles. This has led to all sorts of hot takes online, including speculation that Eugenie could act as an intermediary in the royal rift that the release of Harry’s book is sure to bring.
Apparently, it’s set to “shake the monarchy to the core”.
What is clear is that Harry and Eugenie now have more in common than at any point in their lives and seem to be growing closer, reports The Telegraph:
Not only did the Sussexes offer her the use of their Frogmore Cottage at Windsor after they moved out, she has taken part in Meghan’s “40×40” mentoring project, and sent sweet messages of support via social media.
The Duchess has spoken about her in her now-infamous television interviews, telling Oprah Winfrey they were “friends” and noting: “Eugenie and I had known each other before I had known Harry, so that was comfortable.”
The two couples socialised together while Prince Harry and Meghan were dating, with Eugenie and Jack partying with them for a fancy-dress Halloween event just before their relationship was leaked to the press.
It’s believed that Eugenie’s support was “invaluable” in welcoming Meghan into Harry’s life, and the couple first told friends about Meghan’s pregnancy with Archie Mountbatten-Windsor at Eugenie’s 2018 Windsor Castle wedding.
As long as it doesn’t overshadow the couple getting married. There are strict rules around that.
Princess Eugenie is also likely the first royal to meet Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, Harry and Meghan’s daughter.
With the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee growing ever nearer there will be added scrutiny on the Royal Family:
[The Queen’s] written request that the nation one day welcomes the Duchess of Cornwall as Queen Consort was met with brief words of support from Prince William’s camp – and nothing from Prince Harry’s…
The milestone celebrations in June – the roster of street parties, pageants, concerts and that all-important balcony moment – mean the questions aren’t going away for Prince Harry. What kind of royal outlier will he be?
Perhaps once the Queen passes away, there will be a seismic shift in how the Royal Family operates and Harry might feel more welcome.
Then again, things between Harry and Prince Charles aren’t all that grand so healing any rifts may take a while.
One thing Harry and Eugenie can certainly bond over is a fractious relationship with their fathers, as can Meghan.
