Pinkies up, everyone, the full General Motors Super Bowl advert is here with Dr. Evil in fine form.
We saw a snippet of the brainless megalomaniac in the first ad released earlier this week, but now we get to see a full 90 seconds of the doc and his groovy sidekicks.
The ad features the original crew from Austin Powers, the last movie of which came out in 2002. There’s evil-laughing Mike Myers, know-it-all Rob Lowe, wicked Mindy Sterling, and puny Seth Green to enjoy.
According to General Motors, Dr. Evil is only the second most dangerous threat to the planet after climate change.
Dr. Evil doesn’t do number two, so he is taking over the automotive company to claim back his spot as the number one most dangerous thing in the world.
How? By releasing electric vehicles, of course.
If you’re confused, just watch the ad:
There’s method to the madness, per Mashable:
GM has an ambitious plan to sell 30 different electric vehicles by the end of 2025.
Currently, the electric options include the Chevy Bolt lineup (which is on pause because of battery fire risk), GMC Hummer EV and SUV, Cadillac Lyriq and Celestiq, Chevy Silverado electric pickup truck, and electric Chevy Equinox and Blazer SUVs.
All of the upcoming EVs are featured in the ad, with a slightly shorter version set to air during the Rams-Bengals showdown.
While we’re here, we may as well look at other car adverts that will feature at some point during the Super Bowl.
BMW got the Greek god of thunder Zeus on board, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and his wife Hera, played by Salma Hayek, to tout its all-electric BMW iX:
Before the couple retired to Florida and got the EV, Zeus needed a macchiato:
There’s also the Hyundai ad taking a trip through time with Jason Bateman.
Ignore the unfortunate last part where Bateman asks folks to subscribe by comparing women to things:
For a little more action, there’s Eugene Levy with seriously long hair in an ad for Nissan’s 2023 Z sports car:
