It can be easy to forget that celebrities are normal people like you and me. They still have to follow the laws of the land but, more often than not, they somehow seem to wiggle themselves out of it, particularly with speeding offences. That’s what an excellent speeding offences solicitor can do for you, and perhaps a little bit of money?
Speeding is one of the world’s most common offences, but it is also closely followed by drink driving. With this in mind, we can conjure up a list of six celebrities who have done some naughty actions behind the wheel. Let’s delve a bit further and find out some culprits…
Katie Price
We couldn’t make a list of celebrities with driving offences against their names without Katie Price being number one. It doesn’t come as a shock that Katie Price is on our list of driving offence perpetrators, and if you haven’t heard about the crazy life of Katie Price and her numerous offences behind the wheel, you must live under a rock.
Over the years, Katie has been in the news for not just one driving offence, but a substantial list of driving offences in Sussex and across the UK. Some of these that Katie has committed include:
Katie has received several types of punishments for her actions, including community service, a driving ban, rehabilitation, penalty points, suspended sentence and fines. She makes our other culprits look completely innocent.
See Sussex Live for more details on Katie’s crazy driving background.
Ed Sheeran
Whilst Ed might look like a sweet angelic individual, could we actually consider him a speed demon? Ed did release a song singing about “driving at 90 down those country lanes”, so it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn of his road speeding offences and, of course, it had to be after the release of his Castle on the Hill song – karma perhaps?
George W Bush
Whilst Mr Bush was not the president of the United States at the time of his driving offence, it is still quite unexpected to learn of his potentially dangerous prior crime. In 1976, when George was 30 years old, he was arrested for drink driving, received a $150 fine, and was temporarily banned from driving.
Ant McPartlin
Ant McPartlin is well known for being part of the Ant & Dec duo, TV presenters for a number of popular British shows. Back in April 2018, Ant was involved in a drink driving incident where he had 75 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, taking him well over the limit. The incident involved him losing control on a bend and colliding with two other vehicles.
Ant’s punishment for his drink driving actions was a 20-month driving ban and an £86,000 fine.
Marilyn Monroe
As can be expected, of course, some celebrities are fortunate enough to wrangle themselves out of a driving offence. Marilyn Monroe, for example, was pulled over back in 1956 by police officer Roy Garrett. In exchange for letting her off with a ticket, she gave him a signed picture saying, “To Roy, love and kisses. Thanks for keeping me off the clink”.
Furthermore, to Marilyn, Roy let off celebs such as Susan Hayward, Rex Harrison, Errol Flynn, and many others. We’re not sure whether a signature would be as effective nowadays as it was with Roy and perhaps other police officers.
Jeremy Clarkson
We can’t say this one shocks us. As a man known for his love of fast cars and being one of the Top Gear and The Grand Tour presenters, there is no doubt in our minds that Clarkson likes to drive fast.
Jeremy usually has his bit of fun on racetracks, where speed limits cease to exist. It’s understandable that, where you are blessed to have a fast car, are used to taking them for a spin, and are on a straight road, it can be tempting to want to floor it.
But, unfortunately for Jeremy, he was caught by a speeding camera and, as a result of his speeding, received points on his driving license. Maybe next time, he’ll think twice about flooring it.
More People Have Driving Offences Than You Might Realise
Well, there you have it – six celebrities with various driving offences. It’s quite a common occurrence, although it is one we do not recommend doing.
A few celebrities have been let off due to good quality solicitor, a little bit of wealth, fame, and perhaps a signature doesn’t hurt, does it, Marilyn? However, these days, the law is much hotter on the tail of even the most adored celebs.
