I will forever be in awe of what people are capable of when the right dose of adrenaline kicks in during an emergency situation.
It is the stuff of miracles.
A heroic crossing guard from North East, a town in Maryland, America, had an incredible fight response on Friday morning, whipping a child out of harm’s way as a car came speeding through a zebra crossing.
Corporal Annette L. Goodyear managed to get the child out of the way safely but was then hit by the car herself.
The miraculous moment was caught on surveillance cameras nearby and shared on Twitter:

Cecil County Public Schools Superintendent Jeffrey Lawson said on Twitter that Goodyear was treated for injuries and released in fairly good condition, reported HuffPost:
“It was strange. As I’m lying there I’m thinking to myself this actually did happen. I didn’t even know what to think about at that point,” Goodyear told Fox 5. “It didn’t seem real as it was happening.”
Goodyear said that when she left the hospital she saw the young girl with her father and that they all had a good cry together.
The child was not injured but was too shell-shocked from the near-death experience to go to school that day.
Meanwhile, the driver was given multiple citations, including negligent driving and failure to stop for a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
