A homeowner in Chatsworth, Malmesbury, had a lot to contend with last Saturday, January 22.
An alleged drunk driver in a white sedan pummelled the wall separating their home from the road, causing extensive damage.
Cape Town Etc reported on the incident first, revealing that the damage likely totals around R40 000, according to the homeowner, who has asked to remain anonymous.
The unfortunate resident does not have insurance, so the costs will be all theirs to bear.
Watch the incident unfold, caught on CCTV cameras on the property:
The homeowner contacted Cape Town Etc to complain about the local South African Police Service branch not responding accordingly.
Apparently, they struggled to get the assistance they needed from law enforcement, claiming that the SAPS “neglected their duties”.
Malmesbury Police Station’s Sergeant du Rant went on the record to say they did attend the scene, which has since been confirmed via CCTV footage.
