Javier Bardem and Daniel Craig have a really strong bond.
And not just because the two were co-stars in the 2012 instalment of the James Bond franchise, Skyfall.
In actual fact, the bromance is a little bit kinkier than that.
Bardem revealed that he once got into drag, “dressed like a Bond girl”, and popped “out of a cake” to surprise Craig on his birthday.
The “Marilyn Monroe” style serenade was revealed when the two reunited for Variety’s Actors on Actors, presented by Amazon Studios.
Per Variety, Craig and Bardem’s birthdays are a day apart in March, so they decided to throw a joint birthday party together:
“I remember you were in drag, but I know that’s a whole other story,” Craig said
“Coming out of a cake,” Bardem added. “I was supposed to be the Bond girl that night, and oh, my God, I was.”
Craig was less surprised by the cake-popping drag and more so about his buddy’s singing abilities.
After Bardem admitted that his musical experience is largely from that joint birthday bash, the conversation continued to rumble along.
Watch from the 10:13 mark to catch it:
The rest of the video features the Spanish actor and Craig discussing their respective roles in No Time to Die and Being the Ricardos, with laughter about each other’s endearing moments on and off-screen.
The video ended off slightly alarmingly, though, as reported by The New York Post, with Bardem asking Craig where he got the wound on his noggin from.
Amidst all the giggles and laughing fits, Craig eventually figures out that the red thing on his head was not a sandwich as he had first thought, but a small injury from trying to use a ring light for the first time.
There’s a lot to love about these action movie guys showing their softer sides.
