You know that old meme format “you had one job”?
Well, on the other side of that meme, this reporter at work is what they mean by actually doing that job properly.
Tori Yorgey, a reporter for WSAZ in West Virginia, was doing a live report about the weather in the area and a water main break when she suddenly had a little scare.
The 25-year-old was supposed to be in a safe spot, but then an SUV came out of nowhere and knocked her to the ground during the shot.
Amazingly, she gets right back up to continue the news segment, bar a few gasps and some rustling about.
Before her colleague, anchor Tim Irr, can even react appropriately, Yorgey’s voice is heard off-camera saying, “Oh my God, I just got hit by a car, but I’m OK. I just got hit by a car, but I’m OK, Tim.”
Look at her go, with the accident occurring at the 15-second mark:
The driver did stop to check on the reporter, only to have Yorgey go the extra mile and assure the worried woman that she really was okay.
It was also the moment Yorgey revealed she seems to have some bad luck when it comes to vehicles.
The Drive has more on that:
Later, during a podcast with Preston and Steve of WMMR, Yorgey explains she was walking home from the library one night when she was a student at Penn State.
She was walking past an alleyway and a driver rolled past the stop, hitting Yorgey. But it was “just a little push” as far as she was concerned.
Following the incident on the live broadcast, Yorgey’s boss took her to the hospital to make sure everything checked out.
Hopefully, she can avoid any future bumps along the road of her reporting career.
