Despite the word association, a catwalk has nothing to do with cats.
Horses, however, are cool to strut their stuff down the runway.
At least according to French fashion house Chanel, which has just made it a thing.
Chanel staged its Spring-Summer 2022 haute couture show at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris on Tuesday, and there was a rather grand entrance for Charlotte Casiraghi.
The Monégasque princess, and granddaughter of Hollywood legend Grace Kelly, strutted down the runway on horseback:
Here’s a video covering all the angles:
The 35-year-old Monaco socialite and model is not only an accomplished equestrian but also a Chanel brand ambassador.
She even wore Chanel at her 2019 wedding to Dimitri Rassam.
Chanel has a whole spiel about the match between Casiraghi and the brand:
Drawing upon the ancient bond between humans and horses, Charlotte Casiraghi brings the equestrian spirit of #CHANEL to life, reflecting the constant symbol of the horse in the life of Gabrielle Chanel and the artistic universe of Xavier Veilhan.

The horse was just as crucial as the fashion it seems, with one fan pointing out, per Page Six, that Chanel closed its last couture show with a bride on horseback, bringing the two collections into dialogue.
Enjoying the equestrian spirit of Chanel from the side was a number of high-profile celebs, such as Anna Wintour, Pharrell, Margot Robbie, and Sofia Coppola.
Not that the reception was all excitement and praise.
Many decried the use of the animal in a commercial setting as “tacky” and “unnecessary” with one commenter even using the hashtag #animalabuse.
