Following a newly released video of the Tesla Cybertruck, the vehicle has been compared to a stainless steel fridge and something you’d “put your produce” in.
But that’s not the most absurd aspect of this unreal-looking truck, which is still a “concept” with no formal release date set.
The official unveiling of the truck happened in 2019, which ended up being a showcasing of how much work still needed to be done for the car to be market-ready.
Remember that? They threw a metal ball at the windows to prove how indestructible the vehicle was supposed to be, but the window smashed.
That was fun.
Despite the fact that 150 000 people have already ordered this vehicle (unless they went back on the deal after seeing how destructible the truck turned out to be), there are still only reports that shipping might be delayed to early 2023.
Until the official timeline is announced, all we have is this video of the alleged prototype from the Cybertruck Owners Club with subtitles and no sound.
The video gives us a look at the giant window and almost fitted windscreen wiper, wheels, tailgate, and bed:
Here’s The Verge with more on the “ridiculous” windscreen wiper:
We saw the wiper last month when a drone video captured a Cybertruck doing laps on the company’s test track in Fremont, California.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk commented on the wiper at the time, saying that it troubled him and that a wiper you could stow away in the front trunk would be “ideal, but complex.”
(Is getting out in the rain, sleet, or snow to put on your windshield wiper really ideal, though?)
Moving on to the lack of door handles.
The folks in the video explained that you might need to tap your phone or a keycard on a specific sensor to make the door open.
There’s something unsettling about relying on technology to access technology to live your life if the fact that the vehicle doesn’t look real isn’t unsettling enough.
But that’s just the sort of thing that Elon goes for, isn’t it?
