Look up ‘BMT’ in the dictionary and you’ll find a picture of the Blitzboks’ world-conquering side.
Time and time again, our Sevens side has held their nerve to claim late wins and yesterday in Malaga, Spain was no different.
Facing a determined Argentinian side in the final, the Blitzboks were level at the hooter but managed to dot down under intense pressure to claim their fifth consecutive World Sevens Series title and their third of the 2021/22 season.
Selvyn Davids’ try came a full 90 seconds after the hooter and secured a 24-17 victory, which The Daily Maverick’s Craig Ray points out is our 29th consecutive match won.
The final against the impressive Argentineans was the closest South Africa came to having that streak snapped on the World Series circuit this season. After completely dominating the pool stages and the quarters and semis, the Blitzboks were not at their best in the final. But even playing below their own high standards, they are formidable.
We trailed 17-12 with less than 90 seconds on the clock, but Justin Geduld’s try and then Davids after the hooter saw us home in another classic.

You can’t blame the Argies for shedding a few tears.
At least they sit second on the log after three rounds:
Yes, the All Blacks aren’t there due to COVID-19 travel restrictions but you can only beat the teams you come up against and we keep doing just that.
