When The Firm turns against you, your days are numbered.
You see, there’s a difference between ‘The Firm’, The Royal Family, and The Institution‘, and the various powers wielded by each group.
In Prince Andrew’s case, it was brother Charles who planned his axing from public royal duties, along with the other royal heir, Prince William.
That’s according to a report from NewsAU, although if you ask Charles he’ll offer a rather predictable response.
Silence:
Christmas is a time for families to come together, during which time they can also team up to plot the downfall of other members of the family:
The Prince of Wales sharpened the knife over Christmas, deciding his brother had “run out of road” and should be stripped of all military titles, patronages and his HRH status to protect the Royal Family.
He sought counsel from William, who was spending the holiday season with his wife and children at their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk.
Charles, 73, and Will, 39, told the Queen they had agreed Andrew must go after his New York sex abuse hearing earlier this month…
The Queen was said to have responded in agreement but had a “heavy heart” when doing so.
It fell to Andrew’s other siblings, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, to visit him at his palatial 30-room mansion Royal Lodge to warn him that his head was on the chopping block.
Last Thursday, the Queen delivered the news herself to her “teary” son. Those tears could also have been because somebody shuffled his teddy bears around – it’s tough to tell with these giant manchildren.
Sources close to the family told The Telegraph that Andrew’s life-long royal ties will never be restored with the decision made to “future-proof the House of Windsor beyond the reign of Elizabeth II”:
With both the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge described as “instrumental” in the move to force Andrew out, what we are witnessing is a royal triumvirate working in lock-step like never before…
As veteran royal reporter and author Phil Dampier explained: “Increasingly, Prince Charles and Prince William are working hand in glove and being consulted by the Queen on every major decision.”
Without Prince Philip around to consult the Queen has turned to Charles and William for advice.
The relationship between William and his father is said to have strengthened after both fell out with Harry.
One hopes writers for The Crown are watching the Prince Andrew saga very closely because it would make for a riveting season.
