That there is Helen Hoehne, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), announcing the nominations for the 79th annual Golden Globe Awards.
This was once an exciting moment, with all of Hollywood getting amped for the possibilities ahead, but the entertainment industry is now more sceptical than ever.
That is because the HFPA is embroiled in controversy for its lack of diversity and shoddy ethical practices.
This caused NBC to cancel the telecast in 2022 while top studios and stars vowed not to work with the association until it made the necessary changes.
Hoehne seems to have taken that on board and admitted that 2021 was a “year of change and reflection” for the group.
Still, a bit of a dark cloud hangs over the awards.
