Now and again a streaker or pitch invader is vaguely amusing.
The chap who made it onto the field during the England versus New Zealand match at the 2019 Cricket World Cup comes to mind.
A chat with the batsmen, a few goosesteps, and finally taken down by security – no harm done.
I remain a streaking purist, but nowadays pitch invaders seem to be doing it for the likes and social media clout.
A case in point is this tosser who burst onto the field during last night’s Women’s Champions League clash between Chelsea and Juventus at Kingsmeadow.
Chelsea striker and Australian captain Sam Kerr took exception to the fool running around with his cellphone out.
Enter the shoulder drop and a very solid hit:

That same footage on YouTube:
Unfortunately, as The Guardian reports, Kerr was booked for her troubles:
The referee took a dim view of Kerr’s actions though, and produced a yellow card for the Matildas star.
The man had wanted to take a selfie with Chelsea’s captain, Magda Eriksson, but the incident left Blues coach Emma Hayes somewhat bemused.
“I don’t know why he didn’t wait to the end, he could have got a picture then,” Hayes said. “In all seriousness, we’ve got to think about player welfare and safety.”
I reckon the guy shouting “wanker” in the video above does a good job of summing things up.
Perhaps Kerr drew inspiration from another infamous Ozzie shoulder barge, when Andrew Symonds wrecked a streaker during a 2008 ODI against India at the Gabba.
Observe from the 55-second mark for an Owen Farrell-esque straight red card:
