Welcome to another edition of Friday trailer perusing.
You’ve earned this.
Don’t be coy.
Anything with Leonardo DiCaprio in it is generally worth a closer look, so let’s begin with Don’t Look Up.
You’ve seen the all-star teaser trailer and now it’s time for the first official trailer.
For the lowdown, here’s Mashable:
In Don’t Look Up, disaster comes in the form of a planet-killing comet discovered by two concerned astronomers (Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence). They go on a media tour to convince people that this is a big deal, but nobody — not even the President of the United States (Meryl Streep) — gives a damn. This latest trailer shows everyone from Jonah Hill to Ariana Grande dismissing the comet, while Lawrence has a breakdown on national television and DiCaprio panics in a bathroom.
This is one heck of an all-star cast.
Roll tape:
This one starts streaming on Netflix from December 24.
I’m not a Spider-Man person (Toby Maguire ruined it for me) but what’s being rolled out these days is a far cry from the shite of the early 2000s.
Tom Holland plays Spidey for the third time and there’s an array of villains to battle.
The Verge reports:
…No Way Home picks up right where Far From Home left off: with Peter Parker’s secret identity as Spider-Man revealed to the world, something that Peter tries to enlist Doctor Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) assistance in rectifying. Magical multiverse hijinks ensue.
Things appear to go wrong, though, resulting in appearances from a plethora of Spidey rogues from Sony’s past Spider-Man franchises (before the MCU was ever around), including Spider-Man’s Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Spider-Man 2’s Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), and The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Electro (Jamie Foxx).
As bad as those old movies were I’m glad to see crazy-eyed Defoe back in the game.
That’s a December 17 release date in case you missed it.
To finish, the infamous Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee saga is getting its own series.
You’ve seen the tape, but do you know the story? This via Vulture:
The series stars Seth Rogen as Rand Gauthier, the jerk who stole Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s sex tape and put it on the internet. Sebastian Stan plays Tommy, and Lily James is Pamela Anderson.
Rounding out the cast is Taylor Schilling as Gauthier’s wife, and Nick Offerman as infamous pornographer Uncle Miltie (not to be confused with infamously well-endowed comedian Uncle Miltie).
The limited series will follow the whirlwind romance, honeymoon, burglarizing, and litigation of the titular Pam and Tommy.
You’re still thinking about the tape, aren’t you?
Trailer time:
Pam & Tommy starts airing on Hulu from February 2, 2022.
