When dog owner Mallory Kmet found her family’s truck with some noticeable damage on the side and a golf cart suspiciously nearby, she and her husband immediately blamed the kids.
But the kids’ pleas probably sounded too much like the age-old excuse of “the dogs ate my homework” to be wholly believed.
Thank goodness for the perfectly positioned CCTV camera, which allowed them to check on who the real culprit was.
It turned out to be their dog Titan, a 10-year-old Manitoba canine with a love of golf cart rides.
Titan is usually just a happy passenger, but this time, he found himself behind the wheel.
Here’s more from Kmet via CTV News:
Titan was already having a hard day. Banned from the deck and his comfy cushion after playing with a skunk, Titan had sought shelter when it started raining.
“The next place for him to go was the golf cart because it has a roof and he likes to sit on something comfy,” said owner Mallory Kmet.
Kmet said the golf cart is used to move firewood, and Titan is a big fan of golf cart rides. The last time the cart was used it was not properly shut off.
“He got on it but he’s too big. So he’s moving around and he sat on the gas pedal and it took off and hit my truck,” Kmet said.
Watch the moment unfold:
The best part is definitely how he coolly hopped off the cart and walked away from the scene as if nothing had happened.
The family had shared the clip to TikTok with the caption: “When the kids all deny crashing the new car. Good job we’ve got CCTV.”
The Kmets confirmed that Titan was unharmed and that the damage to the car was fixable.
They also said that the golf cart would always be turned off properly from now on to stop any future joy rides.
