How much is Donald Trump actually worth?
It’s a valid question.
However, there’s really no use asking the man himself, because he won’t give you a straight answer.
In fact, I imagine his answer would go something like this:
His detractors, on the other hand, will claim that he’s up to his eyeballs in debt.
Where does the truth lie?
Forbes has gone deep with ‘The Definitive Net Worth Of Donald Trump’, mapping out “an asset-by-asset breakdown of the former president’s fortune” as of September 2021.
Pie chart fans, you’re in luck:
Patrice Motsepe is also worth $2,5 billion, and Nicky Oppenheimer and his family are estimated to be worth $8 billion.
Trump’s most valuable New York property is the 1290 Avenue of the Americas building, with a net value of $346 million.
His net worth over time has fluctuated quite considerably, peaking in 2015:
His most valuable non-New York property is 555 California Street, with his share worth a cool $257 million.
Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s private club in Florida, is worth $300 million. That’s a pretty decent return on a property he bought in 1985 for an estimated $10 million.
There is one disclaimer to the figures above:
One company not included here is the Trump Media and Technology Group, which the former president announced in October. That venture, whose ownership structure remains murky, seems likely to add to Trump’s fortune.
A visit to the TMTG website shows it’s very much on-brand:
Trump launching his own social media site, tentatively dubbed ‘Truth Social’, promised to be a wild ride.
