Steven Spielberg is perhaps Hollywood’s best-known director and one of the wealthiest filmmakers in the world.
So of course he has an impressive custom luxury yacht to his name.
Sorry, had, because the Academy Award-winning director, with a net worth of $3,7 billion, just sold his amazing superyacht last week to an unknown buyer.
Brokerage firm Merle Wood & Associates confirmed that the yacht dubbed the ‘Seven Seas’ has been sold and rechristened as ‘Man of Steel’.
The price at which it was sold is also unknown, although the superyacht was listed earlier this year for $160 million (around R2,4 billion).
A man of luxury, Spielberg spared no expenses in making sure this superyacht is the ultimate dream machine, says Robb Report:
The blockbuster yacht, built by noted shipyard Oceanco to Spielberg’s exact specifications, first hit the seas back in 2010.
The glitzy interior, which was penned by Nuvolari & Lenard and Molly Isaksen, spans four decks and offers ample space for entertaining A-listers. The vessel can accommodate 20 guests across nine generous staterooms, as well as 28 crew.
The scene-stealer is, of course, Spielberg’s owner’s suite, which features a full-beam stateroom with ensuite and dressing room, along with an office and a terrace with its own private jacuzzi.
See?
Of course, there’s a lot more where that all came from.
There’s supersized screens in every room, as well as a full movie theatre:
You can also find a sauna, steam room, gym, pool, huge beach club, helipad, and countless lounge areas and bars:
Not to mention the fully-stocked garage packed with a tender, speedboat, water toys, and diving gear.
Seven Seas has lived up to its name with transatlantic capability, all thanks to the twin MTU engines packing 4 680 horsepowers each.
That means that she can hit a top speed of 20 knots (37 kilometres per hour) or cruise at a more leisurely 15 knots (27 kph).
It might be a wrap for Spielberg’s Seven Seas, but there are other purchasing options out there if you also fancy getting into the yachting game.
For a little over R10 million, you can have a 25% share of this sophisticated mega yacht, the Azimut Flybridge 60:
According to Boating World, this 18-metre yacht’s home port is here in Cape Town.
It accommodates 12 guests, sleeping six in three luxury ensuite cabins, with additional quarters for the crew.
Owning the Azimut Flybridge 60 in a co-ownership partnership will reduce partners’ purchase and running costs by 75%.
Sounds like a decent deal, if you have some spare change, that is.
