Britney Spears’ cut-throat lawyer Matthew Rosengart (above) is determined to take her father, Jamie Spears, down completely.
Now, it is not just about having Mr Spears suspended from the conservatorship.
Nor is it about making the whole conservatorship deal end completely, with the next hearing regarding that set for November 12.
Rather, Rosengart thinks justice won’t be properly served until Mr Spears is fully investigated.
Since the last hearing in September, when Mr Spears was suspended as conservator, Rosengart has been working on a 110-page deposition filing submitted to the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The filing is in response to the allegations made against Jamie Spears, who had apparently planted recording devices in his daughter’s home.
It is alleged that he was using them to monitor all of Britney’s private communications, perhaps especially with her previous attorney, per NBC News:
On Oct. 1, Rosengart requested discovery for any and all documents and communications pertaining to “the electronic surveillance, monitoring, cloning, or recording of the activity of Britney Jean Spears, personal telephone, according to one exhibit.
It also goes on to ask for similar items in regard to any recording or listening device in the home or bedroom of Britney Jean Spears.
Rosengart is also going after how Mr Spears handled his daughter’s finances, accusing him of mismanaging her estate and profiting off the conservatorship:
There were also significant requests for discovery, the exchange of information in legal cases, such as any communications, contracts, and documents regarding the conservatorship.
This includes communications and payments made to Lou Taylor and Robin Greenhill, who worked with Britney Spears while she was under management with Tri Star Sports and Entertainment Group.
The Daily Beast has more about how Rosengart wants the accounting for all payments that came from Spears’ estate to Tri Star:
Rosengart wants accounting… for its current and past employees, as well as to determine if Spears’ estate ever paid for legal bills on behalf of Taylor and Tri Star employee Robin Greenhill, who worked closely with Spears.
Taylor is a friend of the Spears family who reportedly helped Jamie set the conservatorship in motion.
When Mr Spears was suspended as conservator he filed his own motion to have the judge remove the conservatorship entirely, rather than just suspend him, which to Rosengart was a questionable move:
Jamie Spears [below] had held onto the conservatorship with an iron grip, continually insisting the arrangement was in Spears’ best interest, all while pocketing $16 000 a month from his position and taking home a sizable percentage of any business deals Spears made.
…The sudden change of heart, Rosengart alleged, was merely a tactic to avoid the very investigation that he is now bringing, as Jamie was reportedly hit with a request last month for formal discovery and a sworn deposition.
Well, now that Rosengart is going ahead with the deposition filing, Mr Spears should definitely feel a little threatened, even though his lawyers say he has nothing to hide.
In fact, with the request for extensive information about Spears’ $60 million estate and all those who may have been dipping their hands in it, everyone involved should feel a little scared.
Besides the November 12 hearing, which will likely set Britney free for good, we await the subsequent hearing scheduled for December to look at accounting in the conservatorship.
