Jason Sudeikis Had A Really Good Time On SNL [Videos]

The Ted Lasso star opened with the customary monologue, recounting how his time on the show (he left in 2013) had helped shape his career.

Not every celebrity appearance on Saturday Night Live is met with great approval.

To be fair to Elon Musk, who is now way, way out in front in the world’s wealthiest person stakes, he’s not an actor by trade.

Jason Sudeikis is, and he hosted this past weekend’s SNL with aplomb.

The Ted Lasso star opened with the customary monologue, recounting how his time on the show (he left in 2013) had helped shape his career.

We can’t show you the YouTube videos, because they’re not available in South Africa, so the Twitter videos will have to suffice:

One of the standout sketches was ‘Mellen’, described by CNN as follows:

Sudeikis pretended to be a male version of Ellen DeGeneres. “Mellen is a man’s man and you never know what Mellen might do next,” the voiceover in the skit said.

You joke, but we may not be far away from something like this actually appearing on air:

What is matter? I dunno, other than not as amusing as Mellen:

SNL‘s Weekend Update segment is always popular, with Sudeikis appearing as the Devil:

During his time on the show, Sudeikis regularly appeared on the ‘What’s Up With That’ sketches.

On Saturday, he was joined by Oscar Isaac, Emily Ratajkowski, and Nicholas Braun, with Kenan Thompson playing host:

The parent / teacher conference was mocked in a sketch featuring a steamy attraction between Sudeikis and Ego Nwodim, with Kyle Mooney watching on uncomfortably:

To finish, Ted Jason was joined on stage by the cast and crew to bid everyone goodnight:

I definitely won’t be watching SNL every weekend, but when a past cast member plays host it usually delivers some solid laughs.
