Let’s talk about Kevin Parry.
The animator and self-proclaimed “video wizard” has gone viral for his mind-boggling collection of videos where he turns himself into random objects.
Before smashing into the ground face first, Parry has turned himself into a banana, a pumpkin, a bunch of balloons, and even burst into flames after sneezing.
His illusions and stop-motion animations are made with such incredible visual effects, camera tricks, and precise editing that he might as well be considered a magician.
CNN reported him saying that he tries to make his videos look effortless and simple, while also confusing people so much that they end up watching his creations over and over again.
He’s not wrong:
Parry makes it look so easy, but really it is incredibly tedious and meticulous work:
For example, Parry once created a stop-motion animation of him riding a skateboard along a track. Behind the scenes, he took 360 photographs of himself lying down on the ground in different positions, using a camera attached to the ceiling.
In another stop motion video, he decorated his Christmas tree 300 times to make the ornaments look like they are moving all over the tree.
“There’s usually a point halfway through my videos that I think, ‘am I an insane person?'” he tells CNN.
Check those videos out below:
The five-second video of Parry being transformed into a balloon took a week to make, with hours of video footage of himself falling (without injuring himself) so that he can get the shots to perfectly align.
Charmingly, Parry’s hard work has been a lifelong dream:
“Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to be a magician,” he says. “Doing these kinds of video magic tricks is my way of being a magician finally.”
Besides his series of turning into random objects, Parry also has some mesmerising shots of the “hidden patterns inside tropical fruit “:
In his latest Instagram post, he revealed a collaboration with LEGO and Target:
