“Hey all you cool cats and kittens, it’s Carole Baskin”.
Following the story that gripped the world, Tiger King’s Baskin is back, and this time it’s with her very own investigative docuseries.
Carole Baskin’s Cage Fight will catch up with Baskin as she investigates the treatment of big cats at the zoo formerly owned by Joe Exotic alongside her husband, Howard, and their team, per The Hollywood Reporter.
After Baskin decried the Netflix series, in part for stoking speculations that she killed her second husband Don Lewis, the Discovery+ series is giving her a chance to tell the story in her own words.
Being one with the spotlight, having made an appearance in a Dancing With the Stars casting too, of course, Baskin didn’t skip a beat when the opportunity arose to make a docuseries with her at the centre.
The docuseries promises many “shocking moments” as Baskin and her team (which includes a retired homicide detective) “get their hands dirty and investigate the treatment of big cats, often coming into direct confrontations with dangerous operators,” according to the streaming service:
During the search [for lingering evidence of animal trafficking and abuse treatment], Baskin also enlists help from Joe Exotic’s niece, Chealsi, who spent much of her childhood working at G.W. Zoo and has firsthand knowledge of what went on behind the scenes.
Chealsi directs Baskin and the investigators to different areas around the zoo in pursuit of evidence such as animal remains.
Here’s Baskin herself:
“This is a unique opportunity for audiences to come behind the scenes with us for an unfiltered look at how we expose the cub-petting exploiters and roadside zoos we feel are mistreating animals. This is our real-life work within a dangerous world, and viewers will see it comes with our people being threatened, guns pointed at us and the bad guys shooting at our drones.”
It’s your time to shine, Baskin:
Meanwhile, Joe Exotic is still getting through his 22-year federal prison sentence after being convicted in a murder-for-hire plot to kill Baskin.
