Waking up with a hangover is unfortunate.
Waking up with a hangover and that nagging feeling that you did or said something stupid is very unfortunate.
Then there’s waking up, feeling like garbage, knowing you behaved like a fool, and being unable to find your phone. Good luck with that.
If it’s an iPhone, that means a mad rush to try and track the phone before the battery dies, at which point all hope is lost.
Enter iOS 15, and an update that makes the ‘Find My iPhone’ feature even more useful.
Even if your phone is turned off, or if the battery has run out, you will still be able to track it.
More from The Verge on how to activate this option:
Go to your settings, tap on your name, and then on “Find My.”
Tap on “Find My iPhone.”
Toggle “Find My iPhone” on. If you have upgraded to iOS 15, you can also activate “Find My network,” which will let you find your phone even if it’s offline.
“Send Last Location” will send the location of your iPhone to your Apple account when the battery is about to die.
Ja, no, hey. That’s it sorted.
This feature isn’t available across every iPhone, though, and will only work on the following models – iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro / iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12 / iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro / iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13 / iPhone 13 Mini, and iPhone 13 Pro / iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Keep an eye on Digicape for the latest on when we can expect the iPhone 13 range to go on sale in South Africa, and how much each model will cost.
You can check that the new ‘Find My iPhone’ feature is active by shutting your phone down. If you see the phrase ‘iPhone Findable After Power Off’ under the power-down toggle, you’re sorted.
After that, if you can’t find your iPhone, then you can track it either by using the Find My app on a Mac (or another iPhone, if you have one) or on any browser by going to iCloud.com and signing in using your Apple ID.
Through the feature, you can also put your phone on ‘Lost Mode’, meaning you can send a message and a contact number in case somebody has your phone and is wondering what to do next.
It won’t stop that nagging feeling that you did something doff last night go away, but it’s a start.
