Nicole Richie just celebrated the big 4-0.

Yeah, if she’s that old already, then so am I and so are you.

Her party on Tuesday was absolutely lit, especially at the moment that her hair caught on fire.

Along with a couple of friends and family, the fashion designer celebrated the milestone day outdoors with a showstopper birthday cake, decorated with a throwback photo of Richie and “Happy Birthday Nicole” in white frosting.

She shared footage of the cake and the unfortunate moment her hair caught alight on Instagram:

Nicole’s husband, Joel Madden, appeared to have a sense of humour about the accident, using Paris Hilton’s iconic catchphrase from The Simple Life, “That’s hot.”

A number of other celebs jumped into the comments, including the likes of Amy Schumer, Kelly Rowland, Naomi Campbell, and Sofia Richie.

Of course, Paris Hilton also made an appearance in the comment section, saying: “OMFG,” “Happy Birthday Bill! Hope your ok! Love youuuuu.”

Bill is the nickname Paris gave Richie back in the day, during their time on The Simple Life.
