It seems the days of doing doughnuts on South African roads without much hassle from the police are drawing to a close.
This week, a 26-year-old man was arrested for spinning in his dad’s blue BMW M3 on a busy highway in Johannesburg.
A video of him spinning on the N3 next to Linksfield Avenue was circulated far and wide, which invoked the Gauteng traffic department to get involved.
Check it out:

Spokesperson Sello Maremane told TimesLIVE that Gauteng traffic police conducted a “covert operation” to find out exactly who the illegal driver is, where he lives, and who the vehicle belongs to.
Maremane said that the investigation led them to Edenvale:
“Upon interacting with the owner, he admitted that his son was driving the vehicle recklessly on a public road on the day in question,” Maremane said.
Consequently, the driver was charged with reckless and negligent driving, as well as drag racing on a public road, and arrested for the misdeed.
A strict warning has also been put out by the Gauteng traffic police that using public roads for racing and spinning “will never be tolerated”.
