Sunday night saw the MTV Video Music Awards taking place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Centre.

I really don’t care much for red carpet antics, whether it’s the VMAs or the Met Gala, but let’s take a quick look at Irish UFC fighter Conor McGregor throwing a hissy fit anyway.

Conor was in attendance with his fiancée Dee Devlin in order to give the ‘MTV Artist of the Year’ award to his pal, Justin Bieber.

As is his wont, the Irishman had to try and hog the limelight, becoming involved in a bizarre altercation with rapper Machine Gun Kelly (MGK).

Here’s Page Six:

A spy told Page Six they “got into a fight at the top of the carpet” and “had to be pulled apart.”

Photos show the UFC champ, 33, and “Bloody Valentine” singer, 31, being pulled apart by what looks like security after the scuffle broke out…

“They scuffled, then it settled down and Conor went for him again,” the source said, adding that the photographers “weren’t happy” and were “saying they were going to boycott Conor because they were worried MGK and Megan wouldn’t walk.”

A spy? Do you mean any one of the hundreds of people who were standing in close proximity?

Photographers wanted MGK to walk the red carpet with Megan Fox, as the two have a habit of putting on quite a show.

Video footage also showed Conor flinging a drink at the rapper:

It’s been claimed that Conor tried to approach MGK for a handshake and a photograph, but was denied by security, sparking the outburst:

When asked about the handbags, Conor called MGK a “vanilla boy rapper”:

The rapper chose to walk away from an interview when he was questioned:

Conor’s spokesperson has stated that he “did not ask anyone for a picture, nor did he instigate this incident”.

She also added that Conor “does not know Machine Gun Kelly, outside of the fact that he attended Conor’s fight this past July”.

We have now given this nonsense more time and respect than it deserves, and will end things here.

At least the Irishman has moved on from punching old men in bars.
