Parallel parking is hard.
I have immense sympathy for those who go viral in those failed parking videos and even more respect for those who hold the Guinness World Records.
However, simply exiting a parking lot is pretty rudimentary stuff.
When it goes wrong, and it’s all caught on tape, people are going to judge.
Last Wednesday, shoppers at Pietermaritzburg’s Cascades Lifestyle Centre were understandably shocked when a red hatchback ploughed into the back of a Ford EcoSport.
The Ford was hit so hard that it actually landed in a stream.
The Witness shared this footage – jump ahead to the 15-second mark to see the action unfold:
Images of the aftermath:
In response to media queries, Cascades Lifestyle Centre management declined to comment in order to protect the privacy of the driver.
Management did state that “none of the drivers were under the influence of alcohol.”
Nivashni Nair, who also reported on the crash, shared this earlier today:
Paramedics do not comment on the cause of a crash. Cascades: “no comment.” It has a lot to do with insurance especially for the driver. Police were not called to the scene so obviously they would not comment. #redcar

I guess we may never know exactly what transpired.
We do have a contender for 2021’s worst parking lot exit confirmed.
