Cape Town foodies can be a hard lot to please.
I’ll put aside my hatred for the word ‘foodie’ here and remind you that the city was named Condé Nast World’s Best Food City back in the day.
We have fine dining, we have restaurants with unrivalled views, and we have plenty of unheralded gems that offer great food at great prices.
I joined the Facebook group ‘Cape Town Restaurants – the good, the bad and the nastyyyy‘ a while back, and as the name suggests, you get a bit of everything.
People bickering about tipping protocol, people bickering about COVID-19 protocol, people bickering about anything and everything to do with the restaurant industry, and also ‘the good’ part of that name.
A recent review from August 30 caught my eye, because it’s something we have been raving about for years.
Every Tuesday, Café Caprice runs a Two-For-One Burger Special, and you’re missing a trick if you don’t get involved.
But don’t take our word for it – here’s the review:
The American is a thing of beauty – 180 grams of grass-fed beef patty basted in their homemade BBQ sauce, with cheddar & mozzarella, mustard mayo, ketchup, and a house pickle, served with the aforementioned skinny fries.
But it’s a tough call between that and the Royal for me, which comes with crispy bacon, cheddar, chilli oil and onion rings.
Two-For-One Tuesday – get them both. Problem solved.
One reply to the above review sums things up nicely:
Good service in Cape Town – now there’s a rarity.
Consider this a public service announcement that if you’re in Camps Bay, and you’re after some tasty food with a great view, then popping in at Café Caprice should be on the cards.
Eat both burgers, I dare you.
