For those who don’t necessarily need a special occasion to crack open a good bottle, every day is Wine Day.
But if we are being official about it, today, Spring Day, is also Cap Classique Day.
The start of spring in Cape Town is usually marked by social media feeds full of photos of the wildflowers up the West Coast, or with locals wearing fewer socks with their Crocs.
But we will absolutely welcome Anthonij Rupert Wyne’s version with a glass of L’Ormarins Cap Classique Blanc de Blanc, served with half a dozen fresh West Coast oysters in the heart of the Cape Winelands, instead.
There’s still a West Coast experience there, but without the traffic and backache from a long day spent in the car.
Every Saturday during September, to mark the start of spring, Anthonij Rupert Wyne will host a limited edition L’Ormarins & Oyster Pairing.
A glass of L’Ormarins Blanc de Blanc, which is a 100% chardonnay sparkling wine, paired with six fresh oysters, for R125 a person.
The pairing will be hosted at the Anthonij Rupert Tasting Room, on the Anthonij Rupert Estate in Franschhoek.
I feel spoilt just looking at it all:
We may have seen snow on Table Mountain this past weekend, which doesn’t feel very much like spring is near, but here we are and I’ll drink to that.
The pairing is not weather dependent, and the tasting room’s dress code is smart casual.
Reservations are essential, so swing past the booking page and lock in your spot.
Happy Spring Day, and most importantly, Happy Cap Classique Day!
