Not a single iota of shame.
During his reign as president, Jacob Zuma was never the poster boy for contrition.
In fact, he openly mocked those who sung ‘Zuma Must Go’, took great pleasure in laughing in the face of opposition parties in Parliament, and maintained that he was not involved in any form of State Capture, despite mountains of evidence to the contrary.
After finally being locked up behind bars at Estcourt Correctional Centre, Zuma was moved to a military hospital, where he has been under observation following surgery for unknown medical reasons.
You’re not buying it, I’m not buying it, and Zapiro ain’t buying it.
The Pietermaritzburg High Court gave Zuma’s legal representation until August 20 to submit a detailed report on his medical condition, but that deadline was missed.
Acting on behalf of the State, National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga said they never agreed to an extension.
Just another example of his flagrant disregard for the law, and yet the Jacob Zuma Foundation still has the gall to come asking for money.
Earlier today, the foundation’s official account sent this out:
Dear People of South Africa and the world.
Please lend a helping hand. pic.twitter.com/3pbLL6iccL— JGZuma Foundation (Official) (@JGZ_Foundation) August 24, 2021
You must be completely off your rocker.
“A humble call” and “humbly request” – where was this humility when he was fleecing the country?
IOL reports that the spokesperson of the foundation, Mzwanele Manyi, said the donations will cover all court battles of the former president.
His legal woes, and legal costs, are only mounting:
On top of all these court battles, Zuma is facing a hefty bill of R18.2 million after it was ruled that the State was not obliged to fund him for his corruption trial and ordered him to pay back the money.
Zuma is making use of the services of Advocate Dali Mpofu SC and Advocate Thabani Masuku SC.
As things stand, the former president is expected back in court on September 9, although there may well be further delays.
Here’s hoping his financial woes are crippling, and the courts are not in a forgiving mood.
