Titled ‘Flight from Iguazu’, Lizhi Wang from the US took this photo of the Paraná River in Argentina with his iPhone XR.
He went on to win first place in the landscape category of this year’s iPhone Photography Awards.
Having made huge strides since the flip phone and its two-megapixel camera, iPhones can capture video and images that rival even the most advanced camera equipment in terms of quality.
Thus, the annual iPhone Photography Awards, which is the first and longest-running iPhone photography competition in the world.
Out of thousands of submissions, the award-winning shots offer more where that came from, with glimpses at the “beauty, hope and endurance of the human spirit”, reports The Guardian.
The grand prize winner is photojournalist Istvan Kerekes of Hungary for his image titled ‘Transylvanian Shepherds’, which was shot on an iPhone 7:
In first place for nature, is Christian Horgan from Australia, who took this photo with an iPhone X:
Horgan also got first place in the people category with this creative shot:
Titled ‘Walking On Air’, Jeff Rayner from the United States holds third place for the photographer of the year.
He captured this moment on an iPhone X in Los Feliz, Los Angeles:
‘Walking On Mars’ was taken by Dan Liu from China.
He received second place for the photographer of the year award and used an iPhone 11 Pro Max to get this shot:
Lastly, Bangladesh’s Mahabub Hossain Khan was awarded first place in the lifestyle category.
He managed this shot on an iPhone XS:
