Louis Vuitton is really good at creating luxurious items that you never knew you needed.
The high fashion brand doesn’t exactly scream ‘tech specialists’ but it has gone ahead and launched a new tech product anyway.
Introducing the Horizon Light Up Speaker, which doesn’t even look like a gadget if we’re being honest.
In fact, it might just be the answer behind those mysterious ‘pyramid shaped’ UFOs spotted by the US Navy a while ago.
Jokes aside, Louis Vuitton is aiming to unlock a new level by challenging what a portable speaker should look like, which they might just have achieved.
Jokes back on, as the speakers have an insane price tag of $2 890 (around R42 000).
But The Verge seems to think that the price is warranted:
Despite its bizarre appearance and astronomical price tag, Louis Vuitton does appear to have actually built a pretty nice speaker, at least technically speaking.
The Horizon features a three-inch subwoofer, two 0,75-inch tweeters, three microphones for voice calls, up to 15 hours of playback off a charge, an included charging/display dock, and both Bluetooth 5.1 and AirPlay 2 for wireless audio. It even charges via USB-C.
Of course, those are all things that you’d hope to see at a bare minimum on a speaker that costs almost $3 000.
The exterior is quintessentially LV – in other words, covered in “L-O-U-I-S-V-U-I-T-T-O-N” which is aglow on every available surface – and is mostly made of glass, stainless steel, and leather construction.
The speakers, with a unique blend of fashion and technology, are inspired by the brand’s similarly UFO-shaped Toupie handbag:
It seems one of the only differences is that the Horizon Light Up speakers can pair with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, ApplePlay 2, and other playing means.
Oh, and it can offer up 360-degrees of directional sound.
Testing 1, 2, 3:
R42 000? No thanks, but you can ahead and order it from the Louis Vuitton website if that’s your vibe.
