Season three of Succession is on its way.

You know, the show about the Murdoch family.

Ag sorry, the Roy Family – it’s just that the similarities to the Murdochs are very, very striking.

Either way, we’re all looking forward to catching up with the insanely wealthy and highly dysfunctional family.

For those of you who are not yet in the know, HBO’s Succession is technically a drama, although it excels mostly as a farce, with those in positions of excessive power often depicted as fools.

More of a reminder from Polygon:

Succession is a series about what happens when Logan Roy, the powerful CEO of the WayStar media conglomerate (think of him as a Rupert Murdoch type, and WayStar as Fox News Corp.) is about to announce his retirement — and then changes his mind, throwing his family’s power-jockeying into disarray.

There’s palace intrigue, double-crossing, and lots of very inventive swearing, all culminating in the second-season finale where (spoiler!) Kendall Roy, Logan’s favoured son at the start of the series before a steep fall from grace, decides to turn against his father and accuse him of financial crimes, instead of taking the fall as planned.

The trailer for the new season suggests that this leads to a bit of a family war.

To make matters worse, the whole Roy family are the subjects of a criminal investigation that can put not one, but all of them in prison.

As serious as that all sounds, the show is absurd in a way that makes all the drama highly enjoyable, not to mention the memes it can generate:
