Considering that Elon Musk has a net worth in the region of $160 billion, one might expect him to live in a sprawling mansion.

The Gates’ Xanadu 2.0 estate comes to mind.

But over the past year, Musk has announced plans to flog his properties, and has thus far sold six of the seven he owned.

His last remaining property, a 47-acre estate in Hillsborough, California – around halfway between San Francisco and Silicon Valley – is also on the market.

So where is Elon resting his head these days, in between bouts of tweeting memes about Dogecoin and chatting with Jack Dorsey?

He lives in a tiny box house that he says he rents from his rocket company, SpaceX, reports Forbes:

The house, which is around 400 square feet, is located in Boca Chica, Texas, where SpaceX produces its Starships.

[He] rents a “foldable, prefabricated home” made by Boxabl, a housing startup company. The house, which Musk tweeted sells for about $50,000, typically has a setup akin to a small studio apartment: One large room partitioned into a living room area, bedroom area, kitchen and bathroom.

In contrast to many other billionaires who own lavish mansions, Musk lives in an easily transportable 20×20 foot unit.

We can go one better, though, via The Houston Chronicle:

Boxabl posted a video in November from inside the Casita, announcing the company had just built it for a “high-profile” and “top secret” customer in Boca Chica.

But while the company didn’t name names, Boca Chica isn’t exactly teeming with celebrities, especially ones who would have a poster of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on the door.

There’s not much to see, but let’s take a tour anyway:

Maybe he’s gearing up to live on Mars.

Boxabl, based in Las Vegas, was co-founded by Galiano Tiramani and his father, in 2017.

Galiano wouldn’t comment when asked about Musk, but there is a Boxabl unit on the Starbase site in Texas:
