I regret to inform you that at least two of the drivers participating in America’s Stadium Super Trucks racing series are not well-adjusted people.
When I heard the words ‘super trucks’ I did have my suspicions.
Let’s get the basics out of the way here, before we take a closer look at the two men involved.
Over the weekend, the Stadium Super Trucks racing series headed to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Matt Brabham won, but the post-race fight between Bo LeMastus and Bill Hynes is what really stood out.
Hynes said post-race that LeMastus was driving in a dangerous manner, which included tactics like skipping jumps and cutting through the grass.
Once the race was over, the two met trackside for a showdown that has been likened to the antics usually seen in WWE wrestling.
I’d say it’s the most American thing I’ve seen since Mark Zuckerberg’s Fourth of July celebration.
At times, it looks staged, but reporting on the showdown suggests these two men were being genuine.
Shades of two boets in the Southern Suburbs beating their chests saying “let’s go” before being separated by onlookers.
Stick around to the 1:20 mark and you’ll see LeMastus threatening to use a fire extinguisher:
Genuinely embarrassing for both parties, and once the showdown prompted some digging around, there was more humiliation to come.
Jalopnik with those details:
We’ll kick off with Bo LeMastus’ Facebook page, which is pretty much what you’d expect from a Facebook page. He’s one of the folks who still firmly believes in the eventual ascendance of Donald Trump back to his rightful place as President of the United States, which LeMastus proudly shares.
He even promotes those goofy oil paintings of Trump dressed up like some 19th century general.
It’s a free country, and you can support who you want politically. But if you think Donald Trump is going to replace Joe Biden as president during Biden’s four-year term, you need to turn off Fox News and Newsmax.
LeMastus actually appears to be the better adjusted of the pair:
Hynes, the founder of United Fiber & Data, enjoys a little Stadium Super Truck racing on the side. He also recently faced a series of felony charges of burglary, trespassing, forgery, and more.
And to make things worse, he was accused of stalking a former employee, taking out a fraudulent second mortgage on her home without her consent, and violating a temporary protection-from-abuse order that she had brought against him.
The prosecution in that case also cited other examples of alleged domestic abuse on the part of Hynes.
I guess much like BMW drivers, it’s the 99% of truck racing drivers that give the other 1% a bad name.
