I thought the image of Mark Zuckerberg with sunscreen piled on so thick that he looks like Georges Méliès’ moon while riding his R170 000 electric hydrofoil surfboard was cringy.
But he’s managed to top that with a new video posted in celebration of the Fourth of July, America’s Independence Day.
Gliding across the water on his billionaire boy’s toy, waving the American flag proudly behind him is fine.
But add in John Denver’s ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ and you have yourself a real face-reddener.
I have never been more over that song than right now:
It is a bit disappointing that he didn’t go even more full-on American and smash a Big Mac while surfing.
CNBC reports that the patriotic celebration comes a week after a US judge dismissed antitrust complaints against Facebook:
If the plaintiffs had prevailed in the antitrust lawsuits, Facebook might have been required to divest Instagram and WhatsApp.
Anyway, Zuckerberg is doing his utmost to always stay relevant, even though that’s not particularly what the people want.
As one Twitter user wrote, “I saw it, so now you have to see it too. I’m sorry. I did not make the rules. Happy #July4th.”
