Thursday marked the 10th wedding anniversary of Princess Charlene and Prince Albert of Monaco.
But they were not together for the special occasion as Charlene has been staying in South Africa, away from her two young children, too, apparently since March.
While it is reported that she came to Mzansi for wildlife conservation work and became stuck because of a serious ear, nose, and throat infection that means she can’t travel home as per the doctor’s advice, there are also rumours flying around about why she’d rather stay here.
Apparently, Prince Albert (63) is facing a paternity suit over a possible third love child who was born in 2005 during the early years of his and Charlene’s relationship, Page Six reports:
In December 2020 the Daily Mail reported that a 34-year-old woman claimed she had had a “passionate affair” with Albert, leading to the birth of a daughter on July 4, 2005.
The girl wrote to Albert in September 2020 saying, “I don’t understand why I grew up without a father and now that I have found you, you don’t want to see me.”
The Prince has so far refused to take a paternity test to confirm this.
Princess Charlene reportedly tried to leave Monaco before her wedding, too, because she found out her soon-to-be husband had another illegitimate child, and now history might be repeating itself.
Prince Albert and the six-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, had to attend the Grand Prix event held in May, alone:
News24 reported that the family hadn’t been apart for the whole year:
Albert and the kids visited Charlene in SA [about a month ago], to celebrate her niece’s fifth birthday, a happy occasion which she shared on Instagram.
Charlene later shared a picture of her husband and their twins on a bush drive.

Perhaps, similar to how Charlene looked sad and cried at times during her wedding, later saying they were actually tears of joy, she is covering up any hints of trouble by posting tributes to her husband on Instagram:
“Happy anniversary, Albert,” she wrote. “Thank you for the blessing of our children.”

The “highly-produced” romantic videos commemorating her love story with her husband will be a series released to the public over the Palace of Monaco’s official social media accounts.
Charlene could also be escaping what has been reported as a rather hostile home environment, with locals in Monaco regularly criticising her.
Either way, Charlene seems to be happy remaining in South Africa with the rhinos.
