South Africans are gatvol.
Last night’s announcement that we’re returning to adjusted alert level 4 has certainly cast a cloud over the week (or at least two weeks) ahead, and it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw an uptick in the number of road rage incidents.
We’re certainly tired of how brazen criminals have become. Sometimes, that confidence is misplaced.
Take for example this video, shared by Intelligence Bureau SA and picked up by Cape Town Etc, showing an attempted snatch and grab robbery at a Bird and Co outlet in Bedfordview.
A combination of a sloppy grab and determined patrons helped take down the crook.
Special mention to the young child at the table, who hardly seems at all fazed by the commotion:
Rewatch from the 40-second mark to see one very worked up waiter deliver a flying kick.
At the 50-second mark, I think a member of the kitchen staff even gets the boot in.
Whether or not charges have been laid is not known, but karma has spoken.
