Fans have been very concerned about Britney Spears’ life behind the scenes since her father took over a conservatorship, controlling the most intimate aspects of her life and money since 2008.

This concern launched the #FreeBritney movement that started in 2017 and has been there to back Spears up ever since.

When Britney tried to convince her followers on Instagram that she was fine, asking them “why highlight the most negative and traumatising times in my life from forever ago ????”, fans held on to their scepticism, adamant that she was still being controlled.

Fans seemed to know Britney better than she knew herself at times, and Wednesday was all the proof that was needed.

Via The Daily Beast, the day after testifying, Spears shared the “secret” of why the photos and videos she shared on Instagram so often seemed nonchalant when she herself was miserable.

Spears posted her “secret” below a quote from Albert Einstein:

The headline refers to the bit above where she says “I decided to post this quote today because by golly if you’re going through hell…”

Her words yesterday certainly point to a form of personal hell.

The Guardian reports that according to experts, Spears could remain stuck in her conservatorship for a substantial amount of time, despite her disturbing testimony:

Legal experts and advocates say it is difficult for people placed in conservatorships to get out of them, although the global backlash could have an impact.

“There aren’t that many people who actually get out of conservatorships,” said Megan Radford, an advocate with the #FreeBritney movement, who has closely followed her case and argued for years for the arrangement to end. “The formal process through the probate courts is slow and ineffective.”

…Experts cautioned that much of the key proceedings and medical documents remain sealed, which makes it challenging to evaluate or predict next steps. Her circumstances are also unusual; conservatorships typically involve elderly or infirm people.

The next hearing in Spears’s case is scheduled for July 14.

Given that she still has Instagram as an outlet, perhaps we’ll hear more via social media before then.
