We might want to start thinking more about getting insurance against sinkholes because it seems like our planet is really hungry… or vengeful, whichever way you want to look at it.
There is currently the colossal crater still threatening to swallow a farmhouse in Mexico at any minute, and now a sinkhole in Jerusalem has caved in and devoured a few cars.
Thankfully, no lives were lost and no injuries sustained, after a sinkhole appeared in the parking lot of the Shaare Zedek Medical Centre, The Times Of Israel reports.
Emergency services rushed to the area, with seven fire trucks dispatched to carry searches to check for trapped and/or injured people, as well as to locate the vehicles that were buried.
It is said that the collapse may have been caused by the nearby digging of a highway tunnel:
A tunnel under construction, which also runs underneath the hospital and parking lot, appeared to have partially collapsed, according to Hebrew-language media reports.
Incredibly, a ceremony to inaugurate the new hospital parking lot had just taken place an hour earlier, reports the Jewish Press.
Watch how this one unfolded:
The parking lot is still at risk of further collapse so people have been asked to stay away from the area.
Let’s just hope the hospital remains untouched.
