In 2018, the much-heralded Anthony Bourdain died, although he leaves behind a legacy that forever changed the industry he loved.
If you’re a fan, chances are you’ve watched his shows and read his books, and now you can add Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain to the list.
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville (2013’s Twenty Feet from Stardom won Best Documentary Feature), it doesn’t promise a happy ending, but should make for riveting viewing.
This from the official synopsis:
It’s not where you go. It’s what you leave behind . . . Chef, writer, adventurer, provocateur: Anthony Bourdain lived his life unabashedly. Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain is an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at how an anonymous chef became a world-renowned cultural icon.
From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville (20 Feet From Stardom, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?), this unflinching look at Bourdain reverberates with his presence, in his own voice and in the way he indelibly impacted the world around him.
Roll tape:
At the time of his death, Bourdain was in a relationship with Italian actress and director Asia Argento.
Huff Post reports that it’s unclear whether or not Argento will appear in the doccie, which will be released on July 16.
I’m sure there will be plenty of onions chopped whilst watching this one.
