It’s been a while since Julius Malema has grabbed the headlines for his ridiculous antics, so I guess we were due.
Yesterday’s session of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), taking place in Midrand, Jozi, was disrupted when Malema threatened to kill another member.
Sounds familiar, except this time there is nobody shouting ‘point of order’ or ‘honourable member’.
In a video of the incident, you can clearly hear Malema say “I’ll kill you outside. Outside this meeting, I will kill you.”
It’s believed the comments were aimed at a member of the delegation from Mali, reports The Sowetan:
Shortly after the incident, one MP, pointing a finger in Malema’s direction, says: “There’s an MP who’s threatened to kill a colleague. There’s an honourable member who’s officially announced that he’s going to assassinate his colleague after we leave this chamber.”
His comments are in English through a translator.
Malema replies in English: “You’re pointing me with a finger now.”
It’s not known what comment led to Malema behaving like a petulant schoolchild. Maybe the other MP brought up how Malema and his pals looted VBS Bank, decimating the life savings of everyday South Africans, so they could splash out on Louis Vuitton goodies.
The action starts from 30 seconds in, and Malema can clearly be heard saying he’ll kill the man outside from around the 1:10 mark:
The session was being held to elect parliament’s new bureau, but had to be adjourned until May 31.
The PAP is the legislative arm of the African Union.
Malema has, at the time of writing, yet to tweet about the incident, but I’m sure he’ll come out swinging soon enough.
